Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan merekonstruksi sejarah geologi Penyandingan dan Sekitarnya, Kecamatan Sosoh Buay Rayap, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan pada Cekungan Sumatera Selatan, berdasarkan analisis stratigrafi yang mencakup observasi lapangan, petrografi, dan mikropaleontologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan stratigrafi 5 formasi dari tua ke muda dengan siklus transgresi - regresi. Fase transgresi Miosen Awal – Tengah ditandai oleh pengendapan Formasi Baturaja (lingkungan Shallow Marine, sub fasies Outer Back Reef Lagoon) yang beda fasies menjari dengan Formasi Gumai (lingkungan Delta Front). Fase regresi Miosen Akhir – Pliosen dicirikan oleh kemunculan Formasi Air Benakat (lingkungan Upper Delta Plain) dan Formasi Muara Enim (lingkungan Upper Delta Plain - Fluvial) yang mengandung batubara. Kemudian mengalami deformasi akibat kompresi tektonik Pliosen – Plistosen yang menghasilkan lipatan dan sesar naik dengan orientasi Barat Laut – Tenggara. Terakhir, Formasi Kasai yang diendapkan secara tidak selaras (lingkungan Fluvial sub fasies Floodplain), akibat vulkanisme dan erosi formasi lebih tua.
