Focus and Scope

This journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to advancing knowledge in the structural and functional biology of living organisms. The journal publishes high-quality original research, review articles, and short communications covering the following key areas:

• Plant Anatomy and Physiology

  • Structural organization, tissue differentiation, and organology of vascular and non-vascular plants.

  • Plant cellular processes, photosynthesis, respiration, and metabolic pathways.

  • Water relations, nutrient transport, and hormonal regulation.

  • Plant responses and adaptations to biotic and abiotic environmental stresses.

• Animal Anatomy and Physiology

  • Comparative anatomy, histology, and structural adaptations across diverse animal taxa.

  • Systemic physiology including nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, and excretory systems.

  • Cellular mechanisms, homeostasis, metabolic control, and thermoregulation.

  • Physiological responses to environmental variations and evolutionary adaptations.

• Microorganism Anatomy and Physiology

  • Morphology, and organelle composition of phytoplankton, zooplankton, fungi, and microalgae.

  • Microorganism metabolic pathways, bioenergetics, and enzymatic mechanisms.

  • Nutrient uptake, signal transduction, and physiological adaptations to extreme environments.

Peer Review Process / Policy

Articles submitted to Buletin Anatomi dan Fisiologi (Bulletin of Anatomy and Physiology) will be evaluated through 2 stages of review, ie pre-review and substance review.

The pre-review of the article is carried out by the editorial team to review the conformity of the article with the focus and scope of the journal as well as the journal style. Plagiarism checking is carried out by using Google Scholar and Turnitin software. Duration of review between 1-2 weeks.

Substantial single-blind reviews are performed by at least 2 reviewers. Duration of review between 3-8 weeks. If desired, the reviewer may request a re-review after the author revises his/her article.

The decision of whether the article can be published is authorized by the Editor in Chief by considering recommendations from reviewers. Articles that have been accepted and have been in-layout will be published in the In Progress issue before the regular issue is published on schedule, so they can be indexable and citable immediately.

Publication Frequency

This Journal publish in 2 issues on 1 volume every year. This journal publish on February and August.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Publication Ethic

Publication Ethic of Bulletin Anatomy and Physiology

The Publication Ethics of Bulletin Anatomy and Physiology Based on Commitee of Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authorship

Author is a person who participated in the research and sufficient for taking public responsibility for all portions of the content. When authorship is attributed to a group, all authors should have made substantial contributions to the following: (i) conception and design of the research, acquisition of the data, analysis and interpretation of the data; (ii) drafting of the manuscript and its revision; and (iii) final approval of the version to be submitted. Manuscript submission implies that all authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript, and agree to the manuscript submission to this journal. All authors must be responsible for the quality, accuracy, and ethics of the research. 

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. Submitted manuscripts should be the original works of the author(s).

Duplicate (redundant) publication

Duplicate publication is publication of a paper that overlaps substantially with one already published, without clear, visible reference to the previous publication. Manuscript submissions will be considered for publication only if they are submitted solely to this journal and do not overlap substantially with a published article. Any manuscript that has (near) similar hypothesis, sample characteristics, methodology, results, and conclusions to a published article is a duplicate article and is prohibited, even if it is published in different languages. The slicing of data from a "single research" to make some individuals manuscript without substantial differences should be avoided.

Fabrication of data

Fabrication, manipulation or falsification of data is an ethical violation and is prohibited.

Citations manipulation

The only relevant citations are used in the manuscripts.  Irrelevant (self) citation to increase author(s)'s citation (h-index) or unnecessary citation to improve the references are not allowed.

Intellectual Property Right

Author(s) must obedient to the law and/or ethics in treating the object of research and pay attention to the legality of material sources and intellectual property rights.

Conflict of interest and source of funding

Author(s) requires to acknowledge all sources of institutional, private and corporate financial support for the research within the manuscript, and notes any potential conflicts of interest.

Article Processing Charge

Author whose work is accepted for publication is subjected to pay IDR 400,000 per article.

Artificial Intellegence Usage Policy

Bulletin of Anatomy and Physiology have rules for using of Artificial Intellegence (AI).

Purpose and Core Principles

The rapid integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) and AI-assisted technologies (such as Large Language Models like ChatGPT, Claude, and specialized writing tools) offers significant benefits in scientific drafting, language refining, and efficiency. However, it also introduces critical ethical challenges concerning scientific integrity, originality, accuracy, and accountability.

Our journal is committed to maintaining the highest standard of publication ethics. Authors, peer reviewers, and editors must adhere to three fundamental principles regarding AI utilization:

• Transparency and Full Disclosure: Any use of Generative AI tools in the research design, data analysis, literature synthesis, or manuscript drafting process must be explicitly declared.
• Human Authorship and Ultimate Accountability: AI systems cannot meet the requirements for authorship. Human authors remain 100% accountable for all submitted content, including data veracity, statements, literature citations, and ethical compliance.
• Confidentiality and Intellectual Property: Unpublished manuscript content, raw data, and peer review materials must never be uploaded into unvetted, public Generative AI platforms.

AI and Authorship Eligibility

In accordance with COPE and ICMJE guidelines, AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or software algorithms CANNOT be listed as an author or co-author on any submission.

Rationale for Non-Authorship of AI:

• Authorship carries explicit legal, moral, and academic responsibilities. An author must be capable of approving the final published version, agreeing to be accountable for all aspects of the work, and resolving questions related to accuracy or integrity.
• AI tools cannot sign copyright agreements, hold intellectual property rights, manage conflicts of interest, or assume legal liability for scientific misconduct or copyright infringement.

To clarify boundaries, the table below outlines acceptable and unacceptable applications of AI technology during the manuscript preparation process:

 

 

Disclosure Requirements and Placement

If AI or AI-assisted tools were used in any aspect of the research or manuscript generation, authors MUST provide a clear declaration. Basic grammar/spelling tools (e.g., basic MS Word spellcheck) do not require formal disclosure, but advanced LLM assistance (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Grammarly Premium, DeepL) MUST be declared.

Where to Disclose: Authors must include an 'AI and AI-Assisted Technologies Statement' at the end of the manuscript (Aknowledgment), immediately preceding the References section, as well as in the Cover Letter to the Editor.

Confidentiality Guidelines for Peer Reviewers and Editors

Peer review is a strictly confidential process. Editors and peer reviewers must adhere to the following principles:

• Prohibition of Uploading Submissions: Reviewers must NOT upload any part of an assigned manuscript, abstract, or data into AI models (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or online translation engines) because doing so violates author confidentiality and intellectual property rights.

AI-Generated Review Reports: Peer review reports must be written entirely by the appointed reviewer. Generating peer review evaluations using Generative AI is strictly prohibited as it lacks critical scientific judgment, nuance, and contextual expertise.
