For Authors
Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan (P-ISSN: 2338-1604 and E-ISSN: 2407-8751) is an open access journal focusing on the scientific works devoted to the study of regional development and environmental management issues. This journal publishes both empirical and theoretical research to advance and disseminate knowledge related to regional development and environmental management. The journal emphasizes on the sustainability issues in the economic, social, environmental, and institutional dimensions about regional and urban development in Indonesia and worldwide. All manuscripts including original research, research notes, and book reviews are welcome either in Bahasa Indonesia or English.
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan should follow focus and scope, and author guidelines of this journal. When a manuscript is submitted, it is given a submission ID number. Always refer to this number in communications with the editor. It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to inform the co-authors of the manuscript’s status throughout the review and publication processes.
All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism contents. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking before submitting the draft. Editors check all manuscripts to see if there are any similarities with other articles. The Editor reviews the manuscript for scope and assigns reviewers.
All manuscripts are considered to be confidential and undergo a double-blind review. The manuscript will be made anonym both for the reviewers and the authors(s). The decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based upon their reports/recommendation and made solely by Editor. If reviewers consider a manuscript unsuitable for publication in this journal, a statement explaining the basis for the decision will be sent to the authors after the submission date.
Plagiarism is strictly prohibited in Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan. Plagiarism screening in this journal is completed through Turnitin, Google search, and Google Scholar
Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan published three times a year (3 issues per year) in April, August, and December.
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
All articles published Open Access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan (P-ISSN: 2338-1604 and E-ISSN: 2407-8751) is a peer-reviewed journal published by Research Group in Regional Development and Environmental Management, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Diponegoro University, Semarang, Indonesia. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer and the publisher. This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher and the society.
Research Group in Regional Development and Environmental Management, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Diponegoro University as publisher of Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, Research Group in Regional Development and Environmental Management, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Diponegoro University and Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.
Research misconduct means fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism in producing, performing, or reviewing research and writing an article by authors, or in reporting research results. When authors are found to have been involved with research misconduct or other serious irregularities involving articles that have been published in scientific journals, Editors have a responsibility to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the scientific record.
In cases of suspected misconduct, the Editors and Editorial Board will use the best practices of COPE to assist them to resolve the complaint and address the misconduct fairly. This will include an investigation of the allegation by the Editors. A submitted manuscript that is found to contain such misconduct will be rejected. In cases where a published paper is found to contain such misconduct, a retraction can be published and will be linked to the original article.
The first step involves determining the validity of the allegation and an assessment of whether the allegation is consistent with the definition of research misconduct. This initial step also involves determining whether the individuals alleging misconduct have relevant conflicts of interest.
If scientific misconduct or the presence of other substantial research irregularities is a possibility, the allegations are shared with the corresponding author, who, on behalf of all of the coauthors, is requested to provide a detailed response. After the response is received and evaluated, additional review and involvement of experts (such as statistical reviewers) may be obtained. For cases in which it is unlikely that misconduct has occurred, clarifications, additional analyses, or both, published as letters to the editor, and often including a correction notice and correction to the published article are sufficient.
Institutions are expected to conduct an appropriate and thorough investigation of allegations of scientific misconduct. Ultimately, authors, journals, and institutions have an important obligation to ensure the accuracy of the scientific record. By responding appropriately to concerns about scientific misconduct, and taking necessary actions based on evaluation of these concerns, such as corrections, retractions with replacement, and retractions, JWL will continue to fulfill the responsibilities of ensuring the validity and integrity of the scientific record.

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Wilayah dan Lingkungan will be screened for plagiarism and self-plagiarism using Turnitin and Google-based search engines. Depending on the level of originality and similarities with other documents, the managing editor will decide on whether to immediately reject the manuscripts, contact authors for further clarifications, or to proceed to the peer-review process.
