Peer Review Process / Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Vocational Studies on Applied Research (JVSAR) must adhere to the journal’s Focus and Scope and follow the Author Guidelines. Submissions must demonstrate scientific validity, originality, and a meaningful contribution to knowledge within the field of chemical engineering or related interdisciplinary areas. Manuscripts must be written in clear, correct English. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited for grammar and clarity prior to submission. Language editing support is available from third-party services such as International Science Editing and Asia Science Editing; however, the use of such services does not guarantee acceptance.

Only original, unpublished work is accepted. Manuscripts under review or consideration by other journals will not be considered. All submissions must be free from plagiarism or unethical practices. Authors are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts using reputable plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate before submission. The editorial office will independently screen all manuscripts for similarity and potential academic misconduct using plagiarism detection software prior to peer review.

Once a manuscript is submitted, it undergoes an initial screening by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Associate Editor. This screening assesses whether the manuscript fits the journal’s scope, meets basic quality standards, and is prepared according to submission guidelines. Manuscripts that pass this initial evaluation are then forwarded for peer review.

JVSAR employs a single-blind peer review process, where the identities of reviewers are kept confidential, while authors’ identities are disclosed to the reviewers. The peer review process is designed to ensure fairness, objectivity, and scientific integrity. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with subject-matter expertise relevant to the manuscript’s content. Reviewers are selected from the journal’s editorial board or external reviewer pool based on their expertise, publication record, and previous review performance. In some cases, a third reviewer may be invited to resolve conflicting reviews or provide specialized input.

Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, scientific rigor, methodology, clarity of presentation, relevance to the field, ethical compliance, and the validity of its conclusions. Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommendations for acceptance, revision (major or minor), or rejection. Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality, declare conflicts of interest, and adhere to ethical guidelines as outlined by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

The typical peer review period is two to four weeks, although this may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the submission. Authors will receive a consolidated decision based on the reviewers’ feedback, along with guidance for revision where applicable.

Revised manuscripts undergo further evaluation by the handling editor and, in some cases, may be returned to reviewers for re-assessment. The final decision on acceptance, rejection, or further revision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the designated Associate Editor. The editorial decision is informed by, but not solely determined by, the reviewers' recommendations.

Once a manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to copyediting and production. Articles are scheduled for publication based on the date of acceptance, the thematic relevance to specific issues, and the geographical and institutional diversity of contributing authors.

JVSAR is committed to a transparent and ethical peer review process. Editors and reviewers are expected to act with integrity, impartiality, and confidentiality throughout the process. Appeals or complaints regarding editorial decisions can be directed to the Editor-in-Chief and will be handled in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and COPE guidelines.
