Journal History

The Jurnal Profesi Insinyur Indonesia (JPII)  atau  Indonesian Journal of Engineering Profession is a national scholarly journal dedicated to disseminating publications on engineering practice and professional engineering activities. The journal has been assigned an Electronic International Standard Serial Number (e-ISSN: 2985-8100), registered with Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). JPII provides a platform for engineers, researchers, academics, and engineering practitioners to share their knowledge, experiences, and contributions to the advancement of engineering practice in Indonesia.

The scope of JPII encompasses a broad range of professional engineering activities, including project-based research, industrial problem-solving, natural resource management, asset management, the implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental (OHSE) practices, and the application of engineering ethics. Through these areas, the journal aims to bridge the gap between engineering theory and professional practice while promoting the development of innovative, effective, safe, and sustainable engineering solutions.

JPII has been published by the Engineering Professional Program (Program Studi Program Profesi Insinyur, PSPPI), Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (Universitas Diponegoro), since 2022. The PSPPI at the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, is an accredited professional education program that has achieved the Excellent (Unggul) accreditation status from Indonesia’s LAM TEKNIK (Independent Accreditation Institution-Engineering Board) since 2024. The program is committed to developing competent and professional engineers who are capable of addressing the challenges of engineering practice and contributing to national development.

The PSPPI at the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, offers two study pathways: the Regular Program and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Program. The Regular Program is intended for graduates holding bachelor's degrees in engineering, applied engineering, or life sciences, including agriculture, animal science, fisheries, and marine sciences. It also accommodates engineering and applied engineering graduates with less than two and a half years of professional engineering experience, as well as graduates of technical education programs who have worked in engineering-related fields for at least five years. Applicants from technical education backgrounds are required to complete an equivalency process administered by PSPPI, which includes portfolio assessment and bridging courses.

The RPL Program is designed for graduates in engineering, applied engineering, and life sciences who have accumulated more than two and a half years of professional experience in engineering-related fields. This pathway recognizes relevant prior learning and professional experience as part of the process of developing qualified professional engineers.

JPII is published bimonthly, with each issue addressing themes related to various fields of engineering. The journal seeks to serve as a platform for Indonesian engineers, in particular, to publish their professional work, share practical experiences, and disseminate innovative solutions to engineering challenges. By facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience among engineering professionals, JPII aims to contribute to the advancement of engineering practice, the improvement of professional standards, and the sustainable development of Indonesia.

Since its establishment in 2022, JPII has been committed to supporting the dissemination of engineering knowledge and strengthening the role of professional engineers in addressing industrial, technological, environmental, and societal challenges. The journal welcomes contributions that demonstrate practical relevance, professional competence, innovation, and adherence to engineering ethics, thereby fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in the Indonesian engineering profession.
