The dorsal fin and pelvic fin of larvae A tended were longer (7.33 ± 0.68 mm and 5.38 ± 0.45 mm) than larvae B (6.23 ± 1.58 mm and 5.29 ± 0.81 mm) (P> 0.05). On 20 days old, larvae A tended to consume more rotifers (32.60 ± 21.53 individuals) than larvae B (27.40 ± 11.19 individuals) (P> 0.05). There was more juveniles produced from treatment A (79%) compared to treatment B (21%). Based on this study, feeding artificial feed started from 8 days old take effect to greater growth and survival rate of coral trout larvae. Therefore, the initial time of feeding artificial feed for coral trout larvae should be done started at 8 days old. Larva ikan kerapu sunu dalam pembenihan di panti benih, diberi pakan buatan, disamping pakan alami sebagai pakan awalnya. Namun, hingga saat ini belum diketahui waktu yang tepat untuk pemberian pakan buatan tersebut. Oleh karenanya, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan waktu awal pemberian pakan buatan terhadap pertumbuhan larva ikan kerapu sunu. Perlakuan yang diujikan adalah perbedaan waktu awal pemberian pakan buatan, yaitu mulai larva umur 8 hari (A) dan mulai larva umur 15 hari (B). Penelitian dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali ulangan waktu. Peubah yang diamati meliputi panjang total, panjang duri sirip punggung dan duri sirip perut, jumlah rotifer dan telurnya dalam pencernaan larva serta kelangsungan hidup. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada umur 30 hari larva A memiliki panjang total yang cenderung lebih besar (13,36±2,05 mm) dibandingkan pada larva B (12,13±2,11 mm) (P>0,05). Duri sirip punggung dan duri sirip perut larva A lebih panjang (7,33±0,68 mm dan 5,38±0,45 mm) dibandingkan larva B (6,23±1,58 mm dan 5,29±0,81 mm) (P>0,05).
