Abstract

Background

The elderly population in Indonesia is increasing, therefore their independence and health must be considered. Elderly Posyandu is a health facility that can help overcome nutrition and health problems in the elderly. This study aims to empower the elderly posyandu to address the nutritional problems of the elderly in the Jomblang sub-district, Semarang City.

Method

This was an experimental research with 3 interventions: counseling, anthropometry training for Posyandu cadres, examination of nutritional and health status. Nutritional knowledge was measured before and after counseling using a questionnaire. The ability of cadres to perform anthropometric measurements was measured by a checklist. Dependent t test was used to determine differences in nutritional knowledge before and after the intervention.

Results

Subjects who experienced more nutritional status based on BMI were 53.3% while those who had central obesity were 56.67%. The results of the pre-test and post-test scores showed that there was a significant increase in the mean knowledge score after the intervention. The results of blood tests showed that 60% of subjects had hypertension, 34% of subjects had hyperglycemia, and 20% had hypercholesterolemia.

Conclusion

The prevalence of obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia and hypercholesterolemia in the elderly in the Jomblang village was high. There was a significant increase in nutritional knowledge after the intervention.

ABSTRAK

 

Latar Belakang

Populasi lansia di Indonesia semakin meningkat, oleh karena itu kemadirian dan kesehatan mereka harus diperhatikan. Posyandu lansia merupakan sarana kesehatan yang dapat membantu mengatasi masalah gizi dan kesehatan pada lansia. Penelitian ini bertujuan memberdayakan posyandu lansia untuk mengatasi masalah gizi lansia di kelurahan Jomblang, Kota Semarang.

Metode

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan 3 intervensi yaitu penyuluhan, pelatihan antropometri untuk kader posyandu, serta pemeriksaan staus gizi dan kesehatan. Pengetahuan gizi diukur sebelum dan setelah penyuluhan menggunakan kuesioner. Kemampuan kader melakukan pengukuran antropometri diukur dengan chekclist . Uji t berpasangan digunakan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengetahuan gizi sebelum dan setelah intervensi.

Hasil

Subjek yang mengalami status gizi lebih berdasarkan IMT adalah 53,3% sedangkan yang mengalami obesitas sentral sebanyak 56,67%. Hasil skor pre test dan post test menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan rerata skor pengetahuan yang signifikan setelah intervensi. Hasil pmeriksaan darah menunjukkan terdapat 60% subjek yang mengalami hipertensi, 34% subjek mengalami hiperglikemi, dan 20% hiperkolesterolemia.

Simpulan

Prevalensi obesitas, hipertensi, hiperglikemi dan hiperkolesterolemia pada lansia di kelurahan Jomblang tinggi. Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan gizi yang signifikan setelah intervensi.
