Methodology/Approach/Design: This research employs a non-doctrinal socio-legal approach using qualitative methods. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis concerning police practices in handling cases of dating violence. The data were analyzed qualitatively to examine the alignment between the normative legal framework and its implementation in law enforcement practice. Results and Discussion: The findings indicate that the police model for handling cases of violence in dating relationships tends to adopt a restorative approach, supported by a clear legal basis and formal procedures, ranging from the reporting stage to the investigation process. However, the effectiveness of this model largely depends on the sensitivity of law enforcement officers in recognizing the victim’s position and the power dynamics inherent in intimate relationships. A more equitable and comprehensive handling model encompasses four principal approaches: a victim-centered approach, gender-responsive and human rights–based handling, trauma-informed policing, and proactive legal protection aimed at preventing revictimization. Practical Implications: This study underscores the necessity of strengthening law enforcement capacity through specialized training and the institutionalization of victim-based approaches at every stage of case handling, in order to ensure effective and just protection for victims of violence in dating relationships. }, issn = {3046-9600}, doi = {10.14710/pls.31373}, url = {https://ejournal2.undip.ac.id/index.php/pls/article/view/31373} }
