Abstract

Background

Balanced Nutrition Guidelines (Pesan Gizi Seimbang/PGS) are guidelines for eating patterns in Indonesia that have been proclaimed for a long time but there are still many people who do not know it. There are still many school-age children who like to eat snacks that are not healthy and not in accordance with PGS. This study aims to socialize PGS and provide training to make healthy food for school-age children

Method

The study was carried out in the Jomblang village area, Semarang city in 2022 with participants were50 school-age children. The interventions provided were PGS socialization through lecture and discussion methods as well as food making training through hands-on practice. Knowledge of nutrition, Body Mass Index/Age (BMI/A), and energy intake measured before and after the intervention. Knowledge of nutrition by questionnaire, nutritional status was measured by BMI/A, and energy intake was measured by 24-hour recall. Data analysis used the dependent t test to determine the mean difference before and after the intervention.

Results

Most of the subjects were less than 12 years old (92%), female (56%), and elementary school education (90%). The nutritional knowledge of the subjects before the intervention was mostly classified as lacking, only 2 people were classified as adequate. Nutritional status categorized undernutrition were 16%, normal (64%), and over(20%). There was a significant increase in nutritional knowledge before and after the intervention, but there was no significant increase in BMI/A and energy intake before and after the intervention.

Conclusion

PGS socialization and training on making healthy food were able to increase knowledge of nutrition, but have not been able to significantly improve nutritional status and energy intake.

ABSTRAK

Latar Belakang

Pedoman Gizi Seimbang (PGS) adalah pedoman pola makan di Indonesia yang sudah dicanangkan sejak lama namum masih banyak masyarakat yang belum mengetahuinya. Anak usia sekolah masih banyak yang gemar mengkonsumsi makanan jajanan yang tidak sehat dan tidak sesuai dengan PGS. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan PGS dan memberikan pelatihan pembuatan makanan sehat kepada anak usia sekolah.

Metode

Kegiatan dilakukan di wilayah kelurahan Jomblang, kota Semarang pada tahun 2022 dengan sampel sebanyak 50 anak usia sekolah. Intervensi yang diberikan yaitu sosialisasi PGS melalui metode ceramah dan diskusi serta pelatihan pembuatan makanan melalui praktek secara langsung. Pengetahuan gizi, Indek Massa Tubuh/Umur (IMT/U), dan asupan energi diukur sebelum dan setelah intervensi. Pengetahuan Gizi diukur dengan kuesioner, status gizi diukur berdasarkan IMT/U, dan asupan energi diukur dengan recall 24 jam. Analisis data menggunakan dependent t test untuk mengetahui perbedaan rerata sebelum dan setelah intervensi.

Hasil

sebagian besar subjek berusia kurang dari 12 th (92%), berjenis kelamin perempuan (56%), dan pendidikan Sekolah Dasar (90%). Pengetahuan gizi subjek sebelum intervensi sebagian besar tergolong kurang, hanya 2 orang yang tergolong cukup. Status gizi tergolong kurang sebesar 16%, normal (64%), dan lebih (20%). Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan gizi  yang signifikan sebelum dan setelah intervensi, namun tidak terdapat peningkatan IMT/U dan asupan energi yang signifikan sebelum dan setelah intervensi.

Simpulan

Sosialisasi PGS dan pelatihan pembuatan makanan sehat mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan gizi, namun belum dapat meningkatkan status gizi dan asupan energi secara signifikan.
