Abstract

Objectives:
This study aims to examine the formation of such relationships and their impacts on justice, legal protection, and the rights of Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs), which are frequently neglected due to social stigma and legal vulnerability.

Methodology/Approach/Design:
Using a socio-legal approach, this study integrates legal analysis with social research through in-depth interviews and document analysis.

Results and Discussion:

The findings indicate that the relationship is based on asymmetric economic dependence, in which pimps act simultaneously as protectors and controllers. Meanwhile, Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs) often do not receive adequate legal protection. Human rights–based legal reforms are recommended to reduce exploitation and to enhance protection and access to justice for Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs).

Practical Implications:

This study has practical implications in the form of recommendations for the Government to improve access to human rights protection for Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs) who are bound within power relations, in order to address and prevent exploitation against Commercial Sex Workers.
