Abstract

The research aims to examine the effect of different soil moisture and different fertilizing doses on the growth of jawawut plants (Setaria italica B.v). The study used a 3x4 factorial experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD) of 3 replications. The first factor is soil moisture consisting of A0: ½ field capacity, A¾: ¾ field capacity, A1: field capacity. The second factor is the recommended dosage of Urea, SP36 and KCl fertilization with a balance dose of 200-83-100 kg/ha, which the dose of each treatment is P0: without fertilizing, P½: ½ recommended dosage, T1: according to recommended dosage and T3/2: 1 ½ recommended dosage. The parameters measured are flowering date, plant height, harvest date, dry weight of stover and 100 seeds weight. The results showed that the effect of different fertilization treatment significantly (P<0.05) increased the dry weight of stover. The effect of soil moisture treatment significantly (P<0.05) increased harvest date and dry weight of stover. The effect of the interaction of fertilizer dosing treatment and apparent soil moisture significantly (P<0.05) increased flowering dates, plant height, dry weight of stover, and weight of 100 seeds. Growth and crop production of all parameters are tolerant up to the ¾ field capacity, but the highest yield is obtained by the field capacity watering treatment. High dry weight of stover yield is obtained at the recommended dosage of Urea, SP36 and KCl fertilizer with a balance dose of 200-83-100 kg/ha. Low soil moisture up to ½ field capacity with fertilization of 200-83-100 kg/ha still gives high crop yields according to the flowering date parameter, although the highest dry weight of stover yield is obtained by the field capacity watering treatment.
