Abstract

Potatoes are one of carbohydrates source which is interested people besides rice and corn. Several varieties have been cultivated in Indonesia. Knowledge related with habitus and their variety is necessary to be studied to encourage the development. The aim of research is to study and to describe any varieties of potato in Central Java based on morphology and physiology character. The research was conducted on Magelang district in Central of Java on July - September 2019. Methods of research were initiated by survey the cultivation area and take sampling for kinds of varieties since vegetative phase till harvesting phase. Result of observation showed there were 3 genotypes of cultivated potatoes i.e. AP04, Granola K and Granola L Parameters observed are height of stem, morphology of stem, morphology of leaves (color and arrangement), flower (type of petals and color), tubers (weight, morphology, size and color). Each parameters were identified based on the descriptor of plant morphology. The result show that all potatoes varieties have same morphology of leaves, stem section, and tubers. Variations were obtained on type of petal, color and size of tuber. The tuber from Granola K have the biggest size among others. It indicates that potato of Granola K have the highest productivity compared AP04 or Granola L. However, AP04’s potato has the highest habitus and highest number of tuber from others. As far as this research, the three varieties of cultivated potato are worth developing with each of the advantages.
