Pain and swelling are common symptoms experienced by patients with gouty arthritis; however, these symptoms are often not fully understood or treated appropriately. Therefore, this study aimed to identify location of pain and swelling symptoms in patients with gout arthritis in private hospitals in Western Indonesia. This study used quantitative methods with a retrospective documentation design. The sampling technique was total sampling, involving 47 medical records from one of the private hospitals in Western Indonesia. The results showed that the most common age group was 55 to 65 years (34.04%). Men constituted the majority at 82.98%, with most participants having a normal BMI (53.1%). Additionally, 93.62% did not consume alcohol, and the knee joint was the most frequent site of pain (34.04%) and swelling also (19.15%). Pain and swelling are common symptoms encountered by patients with gouty arthritis. Additional studies on effective interventions for managing pain and swelling in these patients should be conducted. Given the high prevalence of gouty arthritis among individuals aged 55-65 years, this study recommends that understanding location of pain and swelling is very important in treating the patients. }, issn = {2622-4321}, doi = {10.14710/hnhs.8.1.2025.%p}, url = {https://ejournal2.undip.ac.id/index.php/hnhs/article/view/21787} }
