Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

All submitted manuscripts will first undergo an initial evaluation by the Editorial Board before being sent for peer review. Manuscripts must be written in Indonesian. The main manuscript file should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf).

Manuscripts must be prepared in a single-column format on A4-sized paper using Arial font, 11-point size. Submitted manuscripts must contain original work that has not been previously published and should provide a meaningful contribution to the advancement of science and knowledge.

All journal processes, including submission, review, revision, and publication, are conducted through the Online Journal System (OJS). Authors must register for an account before submitting their manuscripts and follow the online submission procedures provided by the system.

Manuscript Structure

Title

The article title must be written in Indonesian and should be concise, informative, and consist of no more than 15 words. Since titles are frequently used in information retrieval systems, authors are encouraged to avoid abbreviations and formulas whenever possible.

Author Names and Affiliations

Authors' full names should be provided without academic titles or degrees and written in capital letters. Please ensure that all author names are accurately presented. Author affiliations (institutional addresses) should be listed directly below the author names.

Affiliations should be identified using lowercase superscript letters placed immediately after each author's name and before the corresponding affiliation. The complete postal address of each affiliation, including the country name and the email address of each author, must be provided.

Corresponding Author

Clearly indicate the corresponding author by underlining the author's name. The corresponding author will be responsible for handling all correspondence throughout the review, publication, and post-publication processes, including responding to inquiries regarding methodology and materials. Ensure that the email addresses of all authors are provided and that the corresponding author's contact information remains up to date.

Abstract

The abstract must be written in Indonesian as a single paragraph containing 100–250 words. It should not contain citations and should serve as a concise summary of the article. The abstract should include the background, research objectives, methodology, major findings, conclusions, and scientific contributions of the study.

The abstract should clearly inform readers about what was done and highlight the principal findings. Avoid technical jargon and uncommon abbreviations. The abstract should be accurate, concise, clear, and specific.

Keywords

Provide three to five keywords or keyword phrases in English. Avoid overly general terms, plural forms, and multiple concepts combined in a single keyword. Abbreviations should only be used if they are widely recognized within the relevant field. Keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Introduction

The Introduction should conclude with a clear statement of the research objectives. Prior to stating the objectives, authors should provide sufficient background information and a concise literature review that:

  • Describes existing solutions or methods;

  • Identifies the most relevant previous studies;

  • Highlights the major limitations of previous work;

  • Explains the research gap addressed by the present study; and

  • Demonstrates the scientific significance or novelty of the work.

Avoid extensive literature reviews or detailed summaries of previous results. The Introduction should be presented in paragraph form and contain approximately 1,000 words.

Research Methods

The Methods section should describe the materials and methods used in sufficient detail to enable the study to be reproduced. Previously published methods should be cited appropriately, and only relevant modifications should be described.

Do not repeat well-established procedures unnecessarily. For chemicals and reagents, provide the manufacturer and purity information where applicable (e.g., NaOH (Merck, 99%)).

Results and Discussion

The Results section should present findings clearly and concisely. Emphasis should be placed on scientific findings rather than extensive presentation of raw data. Authors should clearly identify how their findings differ from or improve upon previous studies.

The Discussion should focus on the significance and interpretation of the findings rather than repeating the results. A combined Results and Discussion section is acceptable. Avoid excessive citation and lengthy discussions of published literature.

The Discussion should address the following questions:

  • How do the results relate to the research objectives stated in the Introduction?

  • What scientific interpretation can be provided for each finding?

  • Are the findings consistent with previously reported studies?

  • If differences exist, how can they be explained?

A discussion should typically begin with a concise summary of the main scientific findings rather than a repetition of experimental results.

Conclusion

The Conclusion should directly address the research objectives and explain how the study advances current knowledge in the field. A clear conclusion is essential for reviewers and readers to assess the significance and publishability of the work.

Do not simply repeat the abstract or list experimental results. Instead, provide a clear scientific justification of the findings, discuss potential applications, and suggest future research directions or ongoing investigations.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledge individuals or institutions that provided assistance during the research, such as language editing, manuscript preparation, or technical support.

If authors acknowledge financial support received personally, initials should be used (e.g., I.J.S.E.). Editors should not be acknowledged.

Funding information should be presented in the following format:

Funding: This work was supported by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Republic of Indonesia [Grant Number xxxx]; Diponegoro University [Grant Numbers yyyy, zzzz].

References

In-Text Citations

Ensure that all references cited in the text are included in the reference list and vice versa. References cited in the abstract must be provided in full. Unpublished results and personal communications are discouraged in the reference list but may be cited within the text.

References that are accepted for publication but not yet published may be cited as “in press.” Whenever possible, include author names, article titles, journal or book titles, publication year, volume number, issue number, page range, and DOI information.

References should be cited using numbers in square brackets according to their order of appearance in the manuscript.

Example:

"...as previously reported [3,6]. Barnaby and Jones [8] obtained different results."

References should be listed numerically in the order in which they appear in the text.

Figure Captions

Each figure must be accompanied by a caption. Captions should consist of a brief title and a description of the figure. Minimize text within the figure itself and explain all symbols and abbreviations used.

Text Graphics

Graphics may be embedded within the text at appropriate locations. Authors using LaTeX may omit this requirement if the software automatically handles figure placement.

Tables

Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images. They may be placed within the manuscript near the relevant text or at the end of the manuscript.

Tables should be numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance in the text. Table notes should be placed below the table body. Avoid duplicating information already presented elsewhere in the manuscript. The use of vertical lines and cell shading should be avoided whenever possible.
